First Four Out: Xavier, Boise State, Colorado State, UC Irvine
Bubble teams in action still: Texas (vs Tennessee), North Carolina (vs Duke), Boise State (vs New Mexico)
Decisions:
Final 2 seed (between Texas Tech, Kentucky, and St. John's)
gave it to Texas Tech with superior predictives and best Q1 winning percentage (they are 9-4 compared to UK's 11-9 and SJ's 4-4)
West Virginia stays out of First Four while Indiana heads to Dayton
the resumes are extremely similar with Indiana having a slight edge in the resume metrics and West Virginia having a slight edge in the predictives. Both teams enter Selection Sunday at 19-13.
The teams have extremely similar Q1/Q2 records with West Virginia having 2 more Q1 wins but 4 more Q2 losses. Edge given to West Virginia because of 6-9 Q1 record compared to Indiana's 4-13.
Texas included
Despite being 12-14 in meaningful games (games against Q1-Q3) they have 7 wins against the field, which is too many to leave out. They have a chance to remove any doubt today against Tennessee.
North Carolina gets last spot
final spot was between UNC, Xavier, and Boise State
UNC has superior resume and predictive metrics and the best record in meaningful games (16-12)
Boise State has 5 wins against the field, but are just 7-7 in Q1 and Q2 and carry a Q4 loss. If Boise wins today against New Mexico and UNC loses to Duke, they could take that spot.
Xavier enters Selection Sunday with just 1 Q1 win and 3 against the field.
